Gold-Standard Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
My clinical practice is deeply rooted in science. To treat anxiety and depression, I heavily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the most widely researched and empirically supported psychological treatment available. CBT works by identifying and restructuring the deep, unconscious cognitive distortions and ruminative thinking patterns that fuel your anxiety and depress your mood. Together, we examine the narrative your brain is telling you, challenging irrational fears and replacing them with balanced, reality-based thinking.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness
In addition to traditional CBT, I integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and mindfulness-based interventions. Drawing from over 40 years of personal meditation practice and Eastern wisdom teachings, I help clients learn the vital skill of cognitive defusion. Mindfulness is the shift from blindly believing our anxious or depressive thoughts to gently observing them. We learn to stop fighting our internal experiences and instead commit to actions that align with our deepest values. This approach is highly effective for treating OCD, as it teaches individuals to tolerate the discomfort of an obsession without engaging in the exhaustive cycle of a compulsion.
